TikTok Ad Specs and Sizes, and How to Make an Ad That Fits

A TikTok In-Feed video ad should be vertical 9:16, at least 540 by 960 pixels, an MP4 or MOV of up to 500 MB. Keep it between 5 and 60 seconds, the range TikTok's ad policy sets.

TikTok ad specs

In short

  • Shape and size: vertical 9:16 is recommended, at 540 by 960 pixels or more; square 1:1 and horizontal 16:9 are accepted.1
  • Length: TikTok's spec page allows up to 10 minutes, but its ad policy says 5 to 60 seconds. Its guide recommends 21 to 34 seconds for most ads.123
  • What fits: a hook in the first seconds, words on screen, sound, and nothing important under TikTok's own buttons. 10xvid makes the vertical film from your app's link, and the first ad is free.45

Every figure here is from TikTok's own help pages, read on 21 October 2026. The guides that rank for this search disagree with each other on sizes and lengths; TikTok's own pages are the ones to build to.

What are TikTok's ad specs?

These are the specs for a standard In-Feed ad, the one you upload yourself (not a Spark Ad):1

The minimum is not the target. TikTok's best practices ask you to shoot "at least 720P", and its guide says to export at 1080 by 1920 or higher.53

How long can a TikTok ad be?

TikTok's own pages give three answers, so plan for the strictest one.

  • The In-Feed spec page: "up to 10 minutes".1
  • The ad policy: "The duration of the ad must be a minimum of 5 seconds, and a maximum of 60 seconds."2
  • The video advertising guide: TikTok recommends 21 to 34 seconds for most ads.3

So keep your ad between 5 and 60 seconds, and aim for about half a minute.

What does TikTok cover on your ad?

TikTok shows its own interface over the ad: the display name, the caption and its buttons. It says the safe zone depends on "the dimension (vertical, horizontal, or square), ad caption length, and any additional formats used", and offers downloadable safe zone files instead of a single number.1

Its guide puts the rule plainly: "Keep text and captions in safe zones".3 And it warns that the preview in Ads Manager "is not specific to a device", so check the live ad on a phone.1

What should a TikTok ad do in its first seconds?

Say what it offers. TikTok's best practices: "Introduce your content proposition in the first 3 seconds" and "Prioritize your hook in the first 6 seconds".5

The same page lists the basics: "using sound/ music, orienting vertically at 9:16, shooting at least 720P resolution, and keeping your content visible within the UI safe zone". For text on screen, it recommends "5-10 words per second".5

An ad 10xvid made for Agent Games, an arcade of AI-made games: 15 seconds, 9:16. It plays muted here.

And make more than one. TikTok suggests "between 3-5 different creatives per ad group", and refreshing them "when delivery results exhibit a consistently declining trend".5

How do you make a TikTok ad that fits?

Make the vertical film first, at 1080 by 1920. Put the claim in the first seconds, words on screen and sound, and keep your button clear of TikTok's own.

With 10xvid, paste your App Store link or your website into the chat. It reads your site and writes a blueprint of the ad, and you press Produce for 9:16, the length and a voice.4

Recorded in the app: the link goes into the chat and the agent reads the site.

The film comes as a 1080p MP4 at 30 frames a second, mixed to -14 LUFS. It is 5 to 30 seconds long, inside TikTok's 5 to 60 second rule. Every film is read frame by frame and judged at 8 of 10 before you see it.4 Check its end card against TikTok's safe zone files before you launch, as you would any ad.

Where 10xvid fits

10xvid, motion graphics ads for apps, makes the 9:16 film for TikTok from one link, drawn from your real screens. The square and landscape ones come from the same run. Make three to five that open on different lines, as TikTok suggests, by changing the hook on the blueprint.45 For Meta's placements, see the Facebook video ad maker guide.
