Static Ads: Ten Image Ad Examples and How to Make Your Own
A static ad is one still image: a picture, a few words and a button, shown in a feed or a story. The good ones say one thing, so big that a thumb stops. Here are ten, each made by Image V1 from a company's own link, and what each one does.1
Static ad examplesIn short
- One idea per ad. Meta's advice: "Don't communicate too many messages because ads usually only have one call to action."2
- One hero: a huge word, a number, or the product, seen before anything else.
- Words you can read in a second, in "a large enough type size and a contrasting hue".2
- A shape for each place: 4:5 for the Facebook Feed, 1:1 for the Instagram Feed, 9:16 for Stories and Reels.3
What is a static ad?
An ad with no motion: a single image. On Meta it runs in the feeds, Stories and Reels; on other platforms beside or between posts. Meta recommends a different shape for each place: "Vertical 4:5 is recommended for single-image ads to be delivered to the ad placement Facebook Feed. 1:1 is recommended for single-image ads to be delivered to Instagram Feed." For Stories and Reels, "9:16 is recommended".3
A static ad has one moment to work, the moment it is on screen. Everything in it is seen at once, so the order of what the eye meets is all the design there is.
What do ten static ad examples show?

These are the pictures on 10xvid's engine page. They are not case studies: this shows what each one does, not how it performed.1
- HUT, 1:1. "FREE" set huge over the club's own photo of masked dancers, then "New nightclub in Itaewon", the date and one button, "Enter the HUT". The offer is the hero.
- Perla, 9:16. "Your dream life, in your own voice." in a serif headline over a glowing pearl, a "Get Perla" button and "Free to download, 7-day free trial".
- Typally, 16:9. "Hold one key and talk." beside a giant fn key, with a sentence typing itself: "Moving the launch to Monday." The product at work.
- Agent Games, 1:1. "67" set huge, "browser games written by AI", beside a wall of the games' own covers, and "Play now". The number is the hero.
- parink.lt, 9:16. "29 004" set huge, then the Lithuanian for "phones. We will pick one", above a search bar that reads "telefonas iki 300 €".
- mariusson, 9:16. A grid of artworks and one line: "your art, gathered by colour, not likes."
- 10xvid, 9:16. "Paste your app's link." over a link field, a fan of phones, then "Get video ads."
- parink.lt, 1:1. The whole brief on a sticky note, "skalbyklė iki 400 €" (a washing machine up to 400 €), circled in marker. The request is the hero.
- HUT, 9:16. "Itaewon's new nightclub opens", four nights with their prices, and one button.
- 10xvid, 1:1. "No filming." in giant type, with a shape picker for 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 beside a "Make videos" button.
What do good static ads have in common?
The ten share four habits:
- One hero, seen first. A word (FREE), a number (67, 29 004), an object (a key, a sticky note) or the product.
- One line that explains it, in plain words, under the hero.
- One button, in the company's own words: Enter the HUT, Get Perla, Play now.
- The company's own look: its photos, screens, colours and type, never stock.

Meta's own advice points the same way. Use "a modern, clean font in a large enough type size and a contrasting hue", and keep to one message, because "ads usually only have one call to action".2
How do you make a static ad?
- Write the one idea as a sentence: after this ad, the viewer understands that ___.
- Pick the hero that proves it: a number, an offer, a screen, an object.
- Write a short headline that hooks, and one support line only if the headline needs it.
- Use your own pictures, screens and colours, so the ad looks like what people will get.
- End on one button, in the words your site already uses.
- Make each shape for its place, and check the words still read at a third of the size.

Should you run static ads or video ads?
Both, and test them against each other. Meta's own testing page says "campaigns with both static images and video achieved conversion lift at a 17% higher rate than campaigns with just static images".4 Another Meta page advises: "Mix video and static ads for better performance and to reduce creative fatigue."5 There is more in static ads vs video ads.
Where 10xvid fits
10xvid, motion graphics ads for apps, makes the static ads too, with its image engine, Image V1. Paste your link, and it reads your site and sketches three ways in. It lays the strongest out as a page from your own pictures, colours and type. It does not generate photos.16
Each image is judged at 8 of 10 and made again under it, in 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9. One takes about eight minutes.16 Image ads come with every paid plan; Solo includes about 40 a month.7
The free first ad is a video, with no card: make your first ad.
